ED MCBAIN FRIDAY

OCTOBER 2

We haven't done one of these in a while. So I am suggesting we review Ed McBain books for Friday, October 2nd. Jeff Meyerson thought it was time and I agreed. Of course, any books reviewed are fine. But let's especially honor one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century.

Well, that's a fantastic idea so you can definitely count me in!

Count me in!

Me, too. Ed McBain was not on my list to read by the end of the year, but now I will put him on it. I am way behind on the 87th Precinct series.

Bernadette berkata...

Is it heretical to admit I have never read an Ed McBain book?

Interesting idea! And thanks for including my post in this most recent collection of Forgotten Books.

Jeff Meyerson berkata...

There is a wide variety to choose from and even those who aren't mystery readers can choose from such diverse books as LAST SUMMER or THE CHISHOLMS or ME AND HITCH, chronicling his troubled relationship with Alfred Hitchcock on THE BIRDS and MARNIE.

I am going to do ME AND HITCH if I can find it.

Charles Gramlich berkata...

I'll definitely try to get in on that

Ed Gorman berkata...

Brilliant idea. Thanks.

Deb berkata...

I'll be writing about MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS (by Evan Hunter), a particular favorite of mine.

Dana King berkata...

Great idea. The appreciation of McBain seems to have gone into eclipse since his death ten years ago, possibly because he was so routinely excellent he became taken for granted. I'll be happy to participate.

Great, Dana, Deb, Ed, Charles. I ordered ME AND HITCH.

I always wanted to read EVERY LITTLE CROOK AND NANNY. So I pick that one.

Yay, I'm so excited. I always loved the themed events.
