Please read Randy Johnson's blog if you haven't..

https://randall120.wordpress.com/

I am sick with grief. I am torn between wishing I had known the extend of his illness and understanding completely why he didn't share it. I loved Randy. He was a terrific person, writer, a generous critic, reader and gentleman. He spoke out against injustice on facebook.
We are so much less without him. I fervently hope his death was quick and painless. If anyone has any more details, please share them.

Can we possible set up a book prize in the names of Ron Scheer and Randy Johnson for the best western written each year? The Scheer-Johnson Prize?

I'm just trying to get my mind around how many deaths our (relatively) small blog group has experienced recently: Judy, Ron, Tom Piccirilli, and now Randy. And I feel as if I've missed someone (hope not). It's just so, so sad.

And this is the downside of expanding your world. More fun, more pleasure but also more pain. And may I include Sandra's husband and mother. Bad, bad year.

I just found out this morning, and am very, very sad. As someone else said, he was one of the good guys. I knew he'd been having health problems for some time, but not that things had gotten to life-threatening levels. Rest in peace, Randy. You're very missed.

A very good friend, lost.

He was a true friend. That sounds, perhaps, trite. But true friends are hard to come by these days. Ones that are with you day in and day out. Randy Johnson was such a friend.
