Travel through Cinema

Saw the new movie from the people who made THE TRIP  (THE TRIP TO ITALY)yesterday and Italy never looks lovelier except perhaps in ROOM WITH A VIEW where Florence blew us away. What is your favorite movie about travel?

  1. We watched ROOM WITH A View recently again for much the same reason. Not disappointed. Westerns shot at Lone Pine in the Sierras are often handsome, whether in color or black and white.

  2. Patti, we enjoyed THE HOLIDAY, MAMMA MIA!, MR. BEAN'S HOLIDAY, and AMÉLIE for the lovely places they took us to.

  5. A PASSAGE TO INDIA and MONSOON WEDDING, Prashant. And the three SUNSET/SUNRISE movies. Oh, and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS.

  6. Patti, I thought of A PASSAGE TO INDIA and EAT PRAY LOVE as well as Jeff's choice of THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL. Instead, I thought of films set outside India, like ROMANCING THE STONE which while being an action movie takes you to South America.

  7. I don't think I've seen Room with a view. I know the title.

  8. Hmmm... I hear "travel movie" and I don't necessarily think about a movie that relates a vacation set in a foreign country. I think movies about actual travel.

Around the World in Eighty Days
    The Motorcycle Diaries
If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium
    Planes, Trains and Automobiles
    Travels with My Aunt
    The Out of Towners
    National Lampoon's Vacation

  9. And, of course, BACK TO THE FUTURE sort of travel.
