The Kinks are so much more important than a lot of folks realize-- I credit them with inventing punk rock, really especially with this song. And after that they went their own way, completely ignoring whatever musical trends were popular. Long after the Beatles broke up and the Stones and the Who got boring, the Kinks were making interesting music. Love them.
Love this song, Patti! Thanks for the reminder. Hadn't heard it in a while. I do remember when the Kinks music debuted on radio eons ago, how very different it seemed then.
Great song!
ReplyDeleteAnd "All Day and All of the Night" was even better...Caribe flavors and a claim to being the loudest, heaviest band in the world at the time.
ReplyDelete"It wasn't called 'heavy metal' when I invented it." --Dave Davies, joking a little.
I love this song! :-)
ReplyDelete+ w/ Todd.
