Have you seen his documentary? He comes off as smart and likable and properly melancholy about all the things he wasted in his stardom. I like so,e of his songs very much.
No, but I will look for it. He came to Megan's book signing in NY and the place went crazy. BUGSY MALONE was her favorite record as a kid. She went through multiple copies.
A seventies fixture! Always popping up on Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, Johnny Carson, etc. and seemed to write songs for everyone--my favorite was 3 Dog Night's "Family of Man." Then all of a sudden, he was gone!

ReplyDeleteIt always surprises me how many songs he actually wrote. And this one's a good 'un.
ReplyDeleteGreat song, great writer and ...The Phantom!
ReplyDeleteYeah, he really fell of the edge of the Earth. I wonder why. Maybe he's still writing songs.
ReplyDeleteI always liked this song. Now I live where there are LOTS of rainy days along with the standard number of Mondays.
