Terrific show. Andre Braugher has put on some weight since then (as have most of us, probably). I can't remember seeing Yaphet Kotto in anything since this went off the air. Of course, Melissa Leo is doing quite well these days.
Petition them, Patti. I know the town's broke, but it can't hurt.
Happily, Kotto is apparently still alive...IMDb suggests he tends to live in the Philippines, where his pennies go farther, I'm sure. Also that he was active in the Steve Forbes campaign. Imagine the cult-leader character he played in HILL STREET BLUES for that one.
This is the opening from the first season. Great seeing it again. Three of the characters left early in the series, including Ned Beatty. Netflix has all of the seasons.
Good little tune. I think this series was my first extended dramatic exposure to "shaky-cam"...it took an episode or so to grow accustomed to that.

I think Yaphet Kotto passed away, Patti.
ReplyDeleteI loved HOMICIDE Life on the Streets. A GREAT show and very much underappreciated.
And unfortunately my library did not buy this series so I may never see it again.

Well, Amazon has the whole series on DVD for $99.99...

I own one DVD, a gift from Todd.

ReplyDeleteSorry, Todd and Patti. I thought I read somewhere that Kotto had passed away. Faulty memory. I'm glad he's still with us. I love the guy.
