The buy-American theme fits in perfectly with buying books, doesn't it? Even many foreign books have a US. publisher or distributor.
So what three books would you like to receive?
I am hoping for the Diane Keaton autobiography, the Pauline Kael biography and 11/22/63.
Patti - Hmmm...To be perfectly honest, I think there are too many books I want to narrow it down to just three. But I can see why you've chosen the ones you have.

ReplyDeleteI have one Goodis book and none by Whittington. Went to a used bookstore yesterday but all the good stuff goes out via mail and not the door.
I like some of King and this sounds like one of them.
You like time travel books (like I do) and that's what this one is all about.

ReplyDeleteThe good thing about writing for kids and having kids is that I can give them the books I want to read myself :-) Wimpy kid is on the list, and I'll be heading out for some more book shopping to see what looks good.

I'm half way through the King book now and won't be able to eat a proper meal or do anything else until I'm finished.
ReplyDeleteAs for Christmas, the new collection of Fredric Brown's miscellania sure sound good, as do a number of reference CD's from Locus Press. And almost anything from the many brilliant small publishers out there, such as Battered Silicon Dispatch Box, Hafner Press, Black Dog Books, Tartarus Press, Ash-Tree Press, NESFA Press, beb Books, and so many more.
Also, my resistance is weakening, so maybe an e-reader...next Christmas.
The problem is, besides all the books sitting on my shelves I have 13 library books at hand, which have to be read first, including the King and Michael Connelly, Megan Abbott, Margaret Maron, Archer Mayor, & John Connolly.

A Moment in the Sun - John Sayles. This one because I know I will never buy or read a 1,000 page novel. If it's a gift, I won't feel guilty having sitting there unread.
I would have included W.P. Kinsella's first novel in 13 years, Butterfly Winter, but I got a review copy last week.
I'd forgotten all about Kinsella. Hope it's good.
