We saw this in 1995 at the Abbley Theater in Dublin. Quite a treat and Megan was with us. It is a sad play, of course, complex and interestingly staged. I never saw Part 2 until the mini series.
The biggest thrill, of course, was being in the famous theater.
We never saw this on stage. We did go to the theater in Dublin and saw a Noel Coward revival.

I've had an unwatched DVD of the TV version for a couple of years now. I can't face getting that depressed for that long, although I know it's a great showcase for the actors.
ReplyDeleteWell done show.
ReplyDeleteA truly astonishing play wholly theatrical in a way that American plays haven't been since the 1940s. I saw both parts back to back in a remarkable production here in Chicago. It may deal with disease and death on the surface, but it's paradoxically cathartic and empowering. It's a landmark fully deserving of all its accolades and awards.
ReplyDeleteIt will probably be the definitive statement of the times, AIDS, and much else.
