See, now I don't remember the Velvet Underground really. That was my sunk in motherhood era whereas the Cowboy Junkies was when my kids were teenagers so I knew all the music.
I can remember most music before 1995 and "Common Disaster" from the Junkies' "Lay It Down" is one of my favorite songs to write to.
Now, certain vocabulary words such as "prejorative" and who coached Ohio State before Jim Tressel? That vexes me for days and I try to recall those things without the aid of Google.
I really was not favoring this version. I randomly chose a song of theirs on you tube to illustrate the name that eluded me. It's hard to top Lou Reed.
You know you're even older when you think, "Who the heck is that covering that song by the Velvet Underground?"

ReplyDeleteI have to confess I didn't know that much about the Velvet Underground either. I was too mainstream for that - my loss.

My question about the CJ's version is why they start in the middle of the song. I'll take Sweet Lou any day.
