(We also saw Tyne Daly in the role.) And yes, EVITA made her a star. We saw it in San Francisco in 1979, a long time ago. Also saw her in the awful (my opinion) SUNSET BOULEVARD in London, and in SWEENEY TODD on Broadway.

Last year we saw AN EVENING WITH PATTI LUPONE & MANDY PATINKIN, another performer I don't love, and it worked surprisingly well. Clearly they are really friends and have real affection for each other. The day we saw them was Mandy's birthday and she made a big deal of it.

We've skipped all versions of MASTER CLASS. Not an opera or a Maria Callas fan.

Jeff M.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-4841179816675978602012-03-23T09:38:05.416-04:002012-03-23T09:38:05.416-04:00And that one I missed. And that one I missed.pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-60672532354138919052012-03-23T08:54:48.366-04:002012-03-23T08:54:48.366-04:00I know what you mean about Patti Lupone. The only time I really liked her performance was in EVITA.Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04546161337366365635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-18019023501209535382012-03-22T22:41:41.305-04:002012-03-22T22:41:41.305-04:00Patti - I saw small snippets of the Tyne Daley pro...Patti - I saw small snippets of the Tyne Daley production and I thought she was quite good, although I know what you mean about the interaction among the characters.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
