I like it a bit better, not least for its more interesting instrumentation.<br /><br />"Progressive" jazz is usually used to mean the kind of thing Stan Kenton did. This, for good or ill, is what is tagged Third Stream, my own favorite kind of music, the meshing of jazz with "classical"/court and ceremonial traditions.Todd Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01815516018079824802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-60604680145172054872011-11-09T17:56:36.301-05:002011-11-09T17:56:36.301-05:00Yes, yes, yes~~! cheers to that ~~!Yes, yes, yes~~! cheers to that ~~!Erik Donald Francehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02332500850365598564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-27463404698487317662011-11-09T13:26:29.581-05:002011-11-09T13:26:29.581-05:00KIND OF BLUE simply doesn't age or fade. So much popular music since then (smooth jazz being at the top of the list) is shallow and emotionally empty by comparison.Ron Scheerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357501069513854664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-49846653358304608682011-11-09T11:51:52.790-05:002011-11-09T11:51:52.790-05:00Patti - Oh, Miles Davis is absolutely positively o...Patti - Oh, Miles Davis is absolutely positively one of my favourites! I must admit, I am not as sharp on the more progressive jazz artists as I wish. Sometimes it's too cacophonous for me. My son played KIND OF BLUE all the way to Cleveland and back once. I can still hear it.pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-21572755945243325412011-11-09T11:10:51.836-05:002011-11-09T11:10:51.836-05:00A fine, fine album, if not up to his KIND OF BLUE....A fine, fine album, if not up to his KIND OF BLUE. The trade-offs from vinyl 33.3 to CD are there, but I prefer the clean sound and lasting quality of the CD.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-79263123556947189812011-11-09T01:51:13.956-05:002011-11-09T01:51:13.956-05:00Always a pleasure, never a chore.Always a pleasure, never a chore.Paul D Brazillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12881642426845398389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-75485537002403735342011-11-08T21:00:01.480-05:002011-11-08T21:00:01.480-05:00So right about this one, patti.
