Perhaps Eastwood and co. just wanted something to highlight the drama (although, what Sully was able to do was pretty damn dramatic without any additional frills), but I suspect Eastwood wanted to stick it to the government bureaucracy. He had an agenda--and he was able to implement it.

--DebAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-80254424707193849192016-09-20T03:57:19.966-04:002016-09-20T03:57:19.966-04:00There are other faithful films...and all art manip...There are other faithful films...and all art manipulates. It's at the very core of making movies. Even adaptations of novels and short stories get rewritten for movies. No screenwriter has ever been truly faithful to any story -- whether it's true or fiction. I think it all has to do with the nature of creative writing. And writers, especially screenwriters, always think they can improve on their source material. Filmmaking is the most manipulative form of art, I think. If they writers aren't inserting their own beliefs in the form of dialogue, the director and editor are cutting the images and scenes to make you see and feel what they want you to.J F Norrisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33110302.post-45151124880331329822016-09-19T09:28:36.180-04:002016-09-19T09:28:36.180-04:00I learned a long time ago that those movies "...I learned a long time ago that those movies "based on a true story" just weren't really. Movies are entertainment.
