Forgotten TV: THE ORIGINAL ROSEANNE: A STASH FROM THE PAST

One of my favorite episodes from Roseanne. There are a lot of great moments and more than that ROSEANNE reflected people who don't often show up on TV.  The last three seasons nearly destroyed the first six but not quite. The turmoil surrounding the show always made things iffy but it always felt real. You believed in that house and those characters-two Beckys or not. They were plucky in trying to start their own businesses in standing up for what they saw as right. And John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf were just the best thing on TV at a time when there wasn't as many prestige shows.

  1. Absolutely. With all the attacks on Tom Arnold over the years, if you look at the years he was involved with Roseanne, they coincide with the best years of the show. Also, Goodman and Metcalf were wonderful.

It's in a different context, but often when Jackie starts ranting about Trump and the outrageous things he says and does, I quote Dan Conner's words to David: "It just doesn't matter."

    So far, it doesn't.

  2. I'm on the bubble about the ROSEANNE reboot. I'm just coming off watching the disappointing THE X-FILES reboot. Thomas Wolfe wrote you can't go home again.

  4. After watching the hour episode last night, Diane and I both decided we'll be skipping the reboot ROSEANNE. The thrill is gone.
