I haven't read the book (even in my reading material, I avoid claustrophobic situations), but I read another book by Emma Donohue, SLAMMERKIN, which was simultaneously beautifully-written with incredible historical detail and, at the same time, unrelentingly grim and off-putting. I don't think she's a writer I'll be returning to, and I have no interest in this movie.
Not, perhaps, the best first date movie?
