It is almost entirely true. We stayed at the B and B in the story and she was trying to adopt a girl and mentioned that all the adopted kids in Austin seemed to be Chinese girls. Not all named Lily though. She was as kookie as the woman in the story. Probably my story most based on real life.
I liked the story. Little adopted Chinese girls is not a made up thing, especially in New York, it seems.
