It's funny. We were just listening to Mann's own single (I guess he was a one-hit wonder as a performer), "Who Put the Bomp (In the Bomp Bomp Bomp)" in the car the other day. They wrote a lot of great songs.
I just looked it up. "Who Put the Bomp" was actually co-written by Mann and Gerry Goffin. Mann & Weil married in August 1961, the month "Who Put the Bomp" came out. He was 22 and she was not quite 21. Unlike Goffin & King and Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich - the other great married songwriting partners of the era - Mann & Weil are still married.

Oh, for some reason I love that one too. They all carry us back to a time when the world seemed like a better place--even if it wasn't.
