Always hated this song. In fact pretty much hate anything Dean Martin did.

  2. I like his early music, more stripped away than this. Once we were sitting in a bar in Dubrovnik, one built into the mountainside and a song came on. It was marvelous and the waitress ran to find out who it was for us. It was him. I will always remember that. Nothing like this one.

Not a fan of Dino and especially not of this song.

My favorite Dean Martin memory also happened in 1964: he was hosting HOLLYWOOD PALACE (for you non-geezers, this was a Saturday night variety show, sort of a poor man's Ed Sullivan) which was the first appearance of the Rolling Stones on American television. He introduced them by saying, "I was once rolled when I was stoned."

Aside - I so did NOT find his drunk act funny, ever.

The song was Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away."

I have to admit, I'm not a big Dean Martin fan. At all. But I know he made a big impact.
