I like them all. Thanks. Recently saw a collection of book covers for ON THE ROAD from editions around the world in different languages. Fascinating study in a range of cross-cultural perspectives.
Number 3 ... weird, we just watched some of the serialization of Mildred Pierce with Kate Winslett ... we were both (my wife and I) horrified at the performances by Winslett and the kid ... way too over acted we thought.
Great, great, great book (as was Postman) ... great, great writer.
Going with the reclining Marilyn in the white blouse. Used to be a book store on State in Ann Arbor and I'd buy paperbacks based on the covers. Pages were too brittle to turn. Went to Pulp Fest in East Lansing a few years ago and bought up a bunch of the same.

ReplyDeleteI've got a paperback from Vintage with a wraparound, sepia-toned cover. I think it's from just before the Nicholson/Lange movie. Love that cover.

Patti - Oh, covers can make such a difference! I like the first and third covers.
