Bad Guys in B movies

I'm working on a story where I'd like to use some B movie villains or A movie second banana bad guys. Now dead. Can anyone remind me of a few?
My thinking cap went missing. Thanks!

Patti - Are you talking about Mob bad guys? If so, I liked the ones in Analyze This and Analyze That, with Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro. Just my $.02

You could pick any of the characters in RESERVOIR DOGS. Quentin Tarantino presented a whole spectrum of villains in that movie.

Don Siegel's 1964 THE KILLERS seems to qualify with Ronald Reagan as the B movie villain and A movie second bananas bag guys with Lee Marvin and Clu Gulager. Good luck, patti.

Mike Mazurki. Goes back a way, but he was a great heavy.

I'm terrible with actor names. There are a bunch in the old Spaghetti westerns. Jack Elam would be one for sure.

Ed Gorman berkata...

The one and only Marc Lawrence. A fine actor and a great noir icon.

Elisha Kelly, Jr., who was in "The Big Sleep," "Shane," and many others. He had the kind of hangdog look that simply said, "I'll never be the alpha male, go on and kick me or I'll kick you."

Deb berkata...

Sorry--Elisha Cook, Jr. My brain is taking a vacation today.

Jack Elam was the only one I'd come up with. Thanks for these names. I need dead ones and dead B movie actors completely escaped my memory. John Carradine was a great one, wasn't he? What a list. I'll look up the rest. Muchas gracias.

I was going to mention Marc Lawrence, who died at 95 in 2005, also.

And how could I forget Mike Mazurki? He was the definitive Moose Malloy in the Dick Powell version of Farewell My Lovely (called Murder, My Sweet.

Not too many people remember him, but I like Paul Stewart. He was in Kiss Me Deadly, Edge of Doom, Mr Lucky, and a whole lot more. He may be two obscure for what you want though.

Lee Van Cleef is the first one who comes to mind, though he may be thought of as a western actor instead of crime.

Patti, I am still around, but you ask such difficult questions (expecting me to watch movies AND remembering them).

pattinase (abbott) berkata...

As you can see, remembering is my problem.

'40s -- Basil Rathbone, Henry Danielle, Arthur Kennedy, Peter Lorre

'50s and '60s -- Neville Brand, Myron Healey, Anthony Caruso, John Davis Chandler, Henry Silva, Robert J. Wilke

'70s -- Don Stroud, Paul Koslo, Al Letierri

The only actors who have impressed me as playing bad guys in the past few years were Jonathan Rhys Myers in RIDE WITH THE DEVIL and Ray Winstone and Charlie Hunnam in COLD MOUNTAIN.

William Talman (The Hitch-Hiker)
Jack Lambert (Kiss Me Deadly)
Charles McGraw (Border Incident)

Recently Ben Kingsley's great but definitely not a B actor. The guys who played the fathers in Justified were right up there--but still alive.

Patti, you are always up to something interesting!

Todd Mason berkata...

William Conrad, at least up through the A-picture THE KILLERS.

Laird Creagar. Jeff and Fred stole my other ones.

I like that name.
