Hey, Guess What! Even the little parties are going to have contested monimations, and it might even matter in the general election, though probably not too much. Barr/Gravel '08 for the Libertarians? McKinney/Camejo for the Greens? Ron Paul/Alan Keyes, whether Paul wants it or not, for the Constitution Party? I'm still watching Michael Bloomberg, doncha know...
Whoops, I should keep up. Neither Keyes nor Paul will be the standard-bearer for the Constitution Party, but their guy Chuck Baldwin, so they'll not even have as much effect as they might've otherwise.
I'd be shocked after such a nasty primary season. And I don't see how two minority candidates would bolster the ticket. I'd go for a moderate from a swing state.
In short, she'd have a better chance of being Veep.
She is a moderate, albeit not from a swing state--but Veep candidates don't necessarily win their states. Among the upsides of her as Veep candidate is that she already has an organization up and ready, albeit one that could use funds, and that her on the ticket is evidence of a more-united party. It's very much in the mode of Mennedy/Johnson and Reagan/Bush.
Bill Richardson might seem like a good possibility, as well, but I'll bet a quarter that however grumpily it's a good shot we're looking at Obama/Clinton.

ReplyDeleteSomeone today suggested Hillary might go third-party, so as not to disappoint her supporters. Maybe we'll have a real free-for-all.
